The United Church Dorchester

United in faith, united in action

Fair Trade

The United Church has a long-standing commitment to Fair Trade. In 2004 a group successfully put together a bid for Dorchester to become Dorset’s first Fair Trade Town.
We continue to raise awareness of the importance of Fair Trade through sales in our Church Shop and by maintaining a presence at other events in the town.

As a Fair Trade Church, we aim to use Fair Trade products at all our church meetings and social events.

We source our Fair Trade stock from various suppliers, but our biggest partner has always been Traidcraft, based in the North East. After a rocky 2018, we are pleased to report that they continue to trade successfully, and celebrated their 40th birthday last year.

The spring/summer catalogue is shortly to be launched, with all sorts of goodies for 2020, including Easter Eggs and a range of gifts and greetings cards, as well as all your favourite   Fair Trade foods.

Fairtrade Fortnight (24 Feb - 8 March) is almost upon us. Please support producers worldwide by buying something extra during this annual event. The focus this year is on cocoa, and therefore also on chocolate, so what’s not to like?! There will be a Fair Trade Stall in the South Street Foyer after the World Day of Payer Service at UCD on Friday 6 March at 10.30 am.

Free Traidcraft catalogues will be available soon in the Church Shop or visit the website at www.traidcraftshop.co.uk
