The United Church Dorchester

United in faith, united in action

Fair Trade

The United Church has a long-standing commitment to Fair Trade. In 2004 a group successfully put together a bid for Dorchester to become Dorset’s first Fair Trade Town.
We continue to raise awareness of the importance of Fair Trade through sales in our Church Shop and by maintaining a presence at other events in the town.

As a Fair Trade Church, we have always aimed to use Fair Trade products at all our church meetings and social events. We are pleased to have been recently re-awarded our Fair Trade Church status by the Fair Trade Foundation.

We source our Fair Trade stock from various suppliers, but our biggest partner has always been Traidcraft, based in the North East. After a rocky 2018, we are pleased to report that they continue to trade successfully, and celebrated their 40th birthday in 2019.

The spring/summer catalogue is out now, with all sorts of goodies for 2020, including a range of gifts and greetings cards, as well as all your favourite Fair Trade foods.
Free Traidcraft catalogues are available in the Church Shop or visit the website at
