CHRISTIAN AID WEEK
The needs of the poor and homeless worldwide have never been greater than now and Christian Aid plays a vital role in helping those who have suffered the devastating effects of war and natural disaster. Christian Aid Week (15-21 May) is coming up fast and we urgently need more volunteers for house to house collections and for our South Street Collection on 20 May. If you find the idea of house to house collecting daunting why not try just ten or so houses. Even a few houses can make a big difference to someone’s life. Please give some serious thought to collecting for Christian Aid this year if you haven’t been involved before. If you want to know more about what is involved, talk to Malcolm Lewis, Heather Bland or Tony Boyden. You can contact Tony on 01305 268726. We would love to hear from you. As Christian Aid says: “Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope, of power over their own lives.”

Join us for our annual Lent Lunches which support Christian Aid. They take place every Wednesday from 12 noon until 1.30pm A ploughman’s lunch, delicious dessert and tea or coffee, all for £5 per person.
This year we are using the Tom Wright book – Lent for Everyone (Mark’s Gospel). Books are available in the church shop. This means that people can either read through by themselves, knowing that they are sharing with others, or join a Lent Group. We are asking established groups to consider this material too. If you are not currently part of a study/house group and would like to be for Lent, please sign the sheet in the hall board indicating whether you would like to lead, host or just participate and the days of the week that would suit you. Many thanks all Steph
We are about to run a one day course for those seeing if they may be interested in Chaplaincy. This looks like late May or mid June. If you would like to explore this, please be in touch with Chris Warren as we are trying to fix a date that suits everyone.
