The United Church Dorchester

United in faith, united in action

Pantomime/Drama Group

We put on a popular panto (or maybe something a little different from time to time) every year at the United Church in Dorchester to raise funds for a chosen charity and to give the community affordable family entertainment! The cast ages range from 11 to 70+ so  it is a great way to get people of all ages together and we use and encourage any talents - from acting and singing to backstage and technical support.

This year we presented a 'revue of music, song, sketches and fun, take a look at the "review of the revue" below.

What a Wonderful World!

A revue of music, songs, sketches and fun…..

Up in the air, down to earth and all at sea, the Pantomime Players travelled far and wide to bring us a new seasonal entertainment that showed off their considerable talents, musical, comical and fanciful.

Silly sketches, serious songs and sweet stringed instruments all combined to present a revue that featured new and established members of our  panto team all dressed in exotic costumes ranging from an octopus to a carrot -  yes really.

A pair of Peters, Clark and Jenner that is, brought the house down as a couple of saucy girls in a show that was produced by Karen Whiter and Nigel Hewish with Heather Reed leading the music.

With proceeds going to A’Rocha UK, a conservation charity, this hugely enjoyable show hit the spot with the enthusiastic audiences who sang along and joined in all the action.

Last year the panto was "Robin Hood"  written by 17 year old Tom, a sixth former at Thomas Hardye and member of the church and directed by Karen Whiter and Nigel Hewish with Heather Reed as Musical Director.  Alongside the traditional tale ran an eco theme about the importance of trees and our forests, with the audience being given a free sapling to take home and plant. All proceeds went to the charity Tree Aid.
