The United Church Dorchester

United in faith, united in action

Events taking place at United Church Dorchester

The United Church Dorchester has traditionally hosted many events for the church, supported charities and the local community. As we all work cautiously towards a more normal social life, please see below for information about events either returning or now planned to take place in the near future.

For all Services, please see the Diary

Please also see the Church Newsletter for other advertised events

Coming up soon:

Thursday 29 July, 10.30am - 11.45am: Forest Praise

Family-friendly fun, relaxed play and praise, taking place at St. George’s, Fordington (opposite Fordington Green).

Children, parents and carers are all welcome: for more details, please see the Forest Praise poster.

Although this is not an event taking place at the church, it is organised by members of the United Church Dorchester, together with St George’s Fordington.

Saturday 17th July, 2.00 - 4.00pm: Action for Children Garden Party

Not strictly being held at UCD - but do come along to 51 Coburg Road, Dorchester for delicious cream teas and cakes!

There will be a bring and buy sale, and a plant sale, with all all money raised going to Action for Children.

Update: over £450 was raised at this event - huge thanks to everyone who was involved, whether as organisers, workers or supporters.

Sunday 18th July, 5.00pm: Special Circuit Service - Tolpuddle Festival

As part of the Tolpuddle Festival weekend, we were delighted to offer a special Circuit Service, where we were joined by the President (Revd Sonia Hicks) and Vice President (Mrs Barbara Easton) of the Methodist Conference (2021-22). The music, prayers and message reflected both on the Tolpuddle story and the President’s theme for the year ahead.

The Service was live-streamed, and the recording of that live stream is now available on the United Church YouTube page

Fridays, 9.00am – 12.00 noon: Dorchester Country Market

Dorchester Country Market is re-opening! With the Corn Exchange still closed for renovation, the market will now take place every Friday morning from 9am until 12noon in the Main Hall at The United Church – please enter via the Charles Street Entrance at the rear of the building, opposite the Library.

Although its been a long wait, we are delighted to be hosting the Country Market: as their Facebook page said when the new location was first agreed, it was the location for the Market in the past, is perfectly located, and is big enough to allow for Covid safe trading.

Do come along for home made baked goods, preserves, plants and a huge range of crafts – all sold by the makers and producers at our local market.
