Worship and Faith: Youth and Family
Our Youth and Family groups cover a range of children, young people, families and those working and integrating with them. Our current groups include Story Tots for the youngest children; Junior Church for younger members of families in church on Sundays, and Forest Praise – a collaboration with St George’s Fordington offering family-friendly fun, relaxed play and praise.
Story Tots A friendly, caring group providing an opportunity for parents/carers and their young children to meet and play with others on a weekly basis. We are currently meeting in the Main Hall of the United Church on Thursdays (during both school term time and holidays) from 9.30am - 10.45am. During the session we have plenty of time to play and chat. We might have craft activities or sing songs. The sessions are free, including the tea and coffee. We look forward to seeing established and new regulars and welcome occasional and one-off visitors. Session dates at the end of May / thoughout June Please note that there will be NO Story Tots on Thursday 29th May, and NO Story Tots on Thursday 5th June. There WILL be a sesion at UCD as normal on Thursday 12th June - when you need to book places for the Story Tots' trip to Weymouth on 19th June (see more on this below). After the trip to Weymouth, there will be a normal session in the UCD Hall on Thursday 26th June. Story Tots at the seaside! Story Tots will be having what has become its annual seaside trip to Weymouth on Thursday 19th June. We go by train from Dorchester South and families can bring a picnic with them if they wish to eat on the beach. Please book places during the usual Thursday session at UCD on 12th June.
Forest Praise Café Family-friendly fun, relaxed play and praise, with a good hearty breakfast (bacon sandwiches, veggie sausages, toast and drinks).Sessions all take place at St. George’s, Fordington (opposite Fordington Green) from 10.30 - 11.45am. Children, parents and carers are all welcome.Forest Praise usually takes place on the last Saturday of each month . For more details, please contact Rev. Junior Church Junior Church provides for children of all ages. We are a small friendly group which enables all who join us to be made very welcome. Our young people either join the service for approximately 20 minutes before going up to their Junior Church session or will stay in Church in our designated children’s area. We enjoy a wide variety of activities - singing worship songs; reading Bible verses; quizzes; games; arts & crafts. We try to help the children understand the Bible and how Jesus’ love for us can help us in our lives today.
