The United Church Dorchester has traditionally hosted many events for the church, supported charities and the local community - please see below for information about events in the near future. Wednesday 28 October, 5.30-7.30pm: Curry Night Please come along, enjoy a 2-course home cooked meal, good company and the opportunity to raise much needed funds for the church roof repairs. Friends are welcome, too! Doors open 5.30pm, food served from 6pm. Tickets are £15 and will be on sale after Sunday morning services and in the church shop.
Saturday 7 November, 10.00am-12.00pm: Christian Aid Market The local branch of Christian Aid will be holding its Annual Market and Stalls on Saturday 7th November, in the Hall here at United Church Dorchester. This is a great opportunity to support the work of Christian Aid, to buy from lots of stalls, and to enjoy time with friends over the lunchtime refreshments. We would be grateful for any donations of home-made cakes and bric-a-brac: please let Tony Boyden know if you can help
Saturday 14 November, 10.00am – 12.00noon: Christmas Sale Come along and support The Leprosy Mission at this Christmas Sale. There will be Christmas crafts, cakes, nearly new gifts, books, jigsaws, mystery gift jars, and guess the hamper weight. Refreshments will include coffee, tea, mince pies – and bacon butties!
Reduce landfill, save money and the planet, and meet new people! Join us on the last Saturday of every month from 10am-12pm for the Dorchester Repair Cafe. The amazing repairers will be waiting for you, ready to tackle your broken clocks, clothes, small appliances and more! We have experts in sewing, bicycle repairs, clocks, and general electricals. Come along with your broken bits, or just wander in to see what we’re up to. If you’re interested in joining us, get in touch – we’re always keen for new volunteers! Can you spare two hours a month? First Wednesdays of the month (except January, May or December), 7.30pm - 9.15pm: Dorchester and District Gardening Club Dorchester and District Gardening Club meets in the United Church Main Hall - entrance from Charles Street - on most first Wednesdays of the month. Meetings usually host a speaker with subjects including gardening and non-gardening subjects and there is also a draw, bring and buy stall and refreshments served. Fridays, 9.00am – 12.00 noon: Dorchester Country Market Dorchester Country Market is now takes place every Friday morning from 9am until 12noon in the Main Hall at United Church Dorchester – please enter via the Charles Street Entrance at the rear of the building, opposite the Library. Do come along for home made baked goods, preserves, plants and a huge range of crafts – all sold by the makers and producers at our local market.
