Worship and Faith: Youth and Family
Our Youth and Family groups cover a range of children, young people, families and those working and integrating with them. Our current groups include Story Tots for the youngest children; Junior Church for younger members of families in church on Sundays, and Forest Praise – a collaboration with St George’s Fordington offering family-friendly fun, relaxed play and praise.
Story Tots A friendly, caring group providing an opportunity for parents/carers and their young children to meet and play with others on a weekly basis. We are currently meeting in the Main Hall of the United Church on Thursdays (during both school term time and holidays) from 9.30am - 10.45am. During the session we have plenty of time to play and chat. We might have craft activities or sing songs. The sessions are free, including the tea and coffee. We look forward to seeing established and new regulars and welcome occasional and one-off visitors. Summer 2024 events: t his year we are planning to have some sessions during the holiday period. The dates are Thursdays 25th July, 15th and 29th August. This will be Story Tots Plus so those who already come can bring their older children if they are not at an age when they can be left at home. On Thursday 1st August will meet on the Great Field at Poundbury, next to PiP Café and the play area. We are also holding a a joint Teddy Bears’ Picnic in the Borough Gardens on Monday 19th August from 11.30am to 1pm with St George's Tea, Toast and Toddlers group. Families (and older siblings welcome) can bring their picnic and their teddies and meet at the bandstand, which will be our focal point. If wet the picnic will be held at St George’s at the same time.

Junior Church Junior Church provides for children of all ages. We are a small friendly group which enables all who join us to be made very welcome. Our young people either join the service for approximately 20 minutes before going up to their Junior Church session or will stay in Church in our designated children’s area. We enjoy a wide variety of activities - singing worship songs; reading Bible verses; quizzes; games; arts & crafts. We try to help the children understand the Bible and how Jesus’ love for us can help us in our lives today.
