Requests for help Volunteer roles within UCD UCD Members are invited to apply for either of the following roles, both of which are voluntary and very important to the life of the church: 1. Church Steward2. Lettings Officer For more details, please contact Michael Humphrey (Church Secretary) World Church Mission Boxes If any UCD members would like a collection box for our World Church Mission, please speak to Colin Gannaway (UCD Treasurer), as we would be delighted to have new contributors to this important part of our church life. Coffee Lounge Help is needed once a month with serving coffees and welcoming visitors to the Coffee Lounge on Tuesday morning. It is a pleasant way to spend the morning and a wonderful way to meet other members and visitors to Dorchester. Help is needed from 9 am to 12.30, it is truly not arduous - please see Elizabeth Haynes for more information. Wednesday Maket Service Stewarding Help is needed, from the New Year, with Stewarding the Wednesday Market Service. This is once a month, from 10.15 to 11.15, though if there were more volunteers it could be less often. This is a simple but important service, giving a warm welcome to our visitors, it is also a good way to meet other members and outside visitors to the church. Please see Elizabeth Haynes for more information.
Annual General Meeting: 10th April 2024 Our AGM will be held in the Church starting at 7.00pm, with refreshments served from 6.30pm. Whether you are new to UCD or have been worshipping with us for a while now, this is an excellent opportunity to hear what we do beyond Sunday worship. Also at this meeting, we as a congregation, elect members to key positions within the life of the Church and receive a financial report for the last year. Copies of the Agenda and the 2023 AGM Minutes will be available in the Foyer and in the password-protected Members' Resources area. Voting All members, friends, and adherents of UCD are warmly invited to attend and contribute to the AGM. However, only Church Members are permitted to vote. Election of Officers At present we have vacancies for three Church Stewards who must be Church Members. Details about being a Steward are included in the ‘Roles and responsibilities’ document within the Members’ Resources area. Nomination forms will be available in the Church Foyer and must be signed by two Church Members and the form given to Michael Humphrey, acting Church Secretary, at least one week before the meeting. We will also vote to extend the tenure of the Church Treasurer, Mr Colin Gannaway, who has agreed to continue in the role for a further year. The position of Church Secretary is decided by the Council of Stewards but the meeting can indicate a suitable candidate. Committee Chairs will also be ratified at the meeting. A new Vision This year Rev John Yarrien is asking us all to join him and the Church Stewards on a journey to set the vision for UCD for the next 10 years and beyond. The AGM will be the occasion to start this process, by listening and sharing together where God is leading us. Please join us on Wednesday 10th April from 6.30pm.
