Community and Outreach: Room Hire

United Church Dorchester has a range of reasonably priced, well equipped rooms for both one-off and regular hire. The Church itself is also available for concerts and rehearsals.

There are many good reasons to choose United Church Dorchester for your events or meetings:

  • An ideal location in the centre of Dorchester, close to all local facilities including shops, car parks and the railway station
  • Ground floor rooms fully accessible, with chair lift access to first floor rooms
  • Short-stay and long-stay car parking available close to the church

  • Tea and coffee making facilities in all meeting rooms
  • Many facilities available, by prior arrangement (screen, TV/video recorder, flip charts)

Please note: we cannot take bookings on Monday or Wednesday afternoons between 14.00 and 18.00. For likely availability at other times, please look at the Room Hire Calendar, which is updated every Saturday morning.

The Church

  • Seats up to 250
  • Superb acoustics: ideal for choir practice, orchestral and group instrument practice, recitals and concerts
  • Kitchenette in foyer

The Main Hall (149 sq.m)

  • Seats up to 100
  • Suitable for coffee mornings, fundraisers, sport, exercise and dance classes, meetings and conferences, large group training
  • Chairs and folding tables available - can be configured as required
  • Adjoining fully equipped kitchen (extra charge applies)

Cerne Abbas Room (49 sq.m.)

  • Seats up to 40
  • First floor (accessible by stair lift)
  • Kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities and a microwave
  • Perfect for small group exercise, crafts, pastimes and other group activities, training, larger formal and informal meetings

Tolpuddle Room (29 sq.m.)

  • Seats up to 30 (20 for a meeting with tables)
  • First floor (accessible by stair lift)
  • Kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities
  • Perfect for group crafts and activities, smaller training sessions and informal meetings

Charminster Room (36 sq.m.)

  • Seats up to 30 (20 for a meeting with tables)
  • Second floor—not fully accessible
  • Perfect for meetings and activities for small informal groups

Prices
Our rooms are available for four-hour sessions: 
9.00am - 1.00pm, 1.30pm - 5.30pm and 6.00pm - 10.00pm

Hirers must complete a hiring agreement and return it in advance of the booking.
